Work Style

I am a proud storyteller who weaves responsible, sustainable, and conscious narratives. My initiative “Stories Don’t Sell”, a misnomer, aims at writing genuine stories. Because stories do sell.

There are two truths: Content is here to stay, and stories make your content valued. Long-tail keywords will keep you sequestered from the herd. Today, when information is available at light speed, think about what will make you unique. I use AI for research, translation and optimisation, but don’t completely rely on it for content.

I like talking with people about the power of storytelling in travel; changing landscape of travel; advent of technology in travel and how we can leverage it to make this world a better place; how can women make an impact through travel; about various mind-blowing travellers; about the impact travel can make in anybody’s life, and about tribal communities who have answers to sustainability. To discuss all this, I host various workshops, podcasts and Instagram LIVEs.

Storytelling, Tribal Communities, Experiential Trips, Adventures,  Offbeat Travel, Human Travel Writing, Sustainability, Community Development through Tourism – anything related catches my eye.

How Do I Charge for Work?

I have been very selective about my work from the beginning. I say ‘No’ to opportunities that do not match my style. Also, I say ‘No’ to works that do not satisfy my purpose as a Travel Writer. For every project I say yes to, I give 110%, and make their journey creatively satisfying.

Today with the advancement of technology, I see many companies keeping a shut-eye on Travel Writer’s works. They compensate them by paying less. Over time, this has changed for me. I tell my clients about the time and effort taken for in-depth research and quality content. There are questions I always ponder on for your content strategy: How can you be different from the competitors? What is your contribution to the world? How can you use technology to prosper? Will your website ask significant travel questions? How can you work towards sustainability?

What can I do for you as a Travel Writer?

  1. FAM Trips: This is the most exciting part of my job. I go on FAM trips for familiarisation, to pick up stories and to eat good local food. I combine this travel with other personal work to minimise my carbon footprint.
  2. Write Articles: I write research-based articles too. I take time to absorb the nitty-gritty, read between the lines and give the most accurate content.
  3. Interviews: I conduct interviews with travel founders, celebrities, trekkers, travellers, and backpackers who have motivational stories.
  4. Workshops and Talks: I take up talks and workshop assignments too.
  5. Write Travel Guides and Itineraries: I compile my knowledge and experiences into comprehensive travel guides, giving readers detailed reports about accommodations, dining options, activities, transportation, and more.
  6. Government Tourism Boards: I work with governments to bring out local stories. The travel Industry is like an umbrella for all other industries. Whatever we do, we can’t be aloof of feeling their effects on a place. That’s why, I work with Government Tourism Boards for storytelling or consulting works.
  7. Sustainable, Ethical and Responsible Tourism Projects.

As a Travel Content Strategist, I can:

  1. Content Planning and Strategy: I can develop comprehensive content plans aligned with the goals, target audience, and brand identity. For a SAAS Travel Startup, I interviewed founders of travel companies who reaped the benefits of the software. This built trust and increased the sales by 30%.
  2. Content Ideation and Creation: I can generate ideas for content that align with your brand’s messaging. I can work with writers, photographers, videographers, and others to produce high-quality content. I suggested Plan the Unplanned to write weekly Newsletters. This led to increased indirect 40% sales. Being transparent about our plans and keeping our readers in the loop takes us a long way.
  3. SEO and Keyword Strategy: Search engine optimisation (SEO) is critical for driving organic traffic. I work with your Digital Marketing team to conduct keyword research and implement SEO best practices.
  4. Content Distribution and Promotion: Developing great content is only half the battle; I also focus on maximising its reach and impact. I devise distribution strategies to share content across relevant channels.
  5. Performance Tracking and Analysis: I work with the Analytics team to track key metrics such as website traffic, engagement, conversions, and ROI.
  6. Content Calendar: All marketing and branding points towards increasing sales. If your product is good, there is nothing bad in marketing it. Marketing links your product with the users. I made content calendars to not spill the content. This gives a clarity on where we are heading towards. I also work on various travel campaigns to drive sales.
  7. Brand Voice and Tone Development: This is the most crucial starter step for building brand identity. Many brands feel they can work on any content and work on their brand voice when they have the luxury. Trust me, that luxury never comes. Each brand is distinctive. I collaborate with stakeholders to define brand guidelines and ensure consistency in messaging across all content touch points.
  8. Adaptation to Emerging Trends: The travel Industry is dynamic. I can help you navigate tough waters by keeping you updated on the rising trends.

Imagine having a travel companion who is always there for you, ready to assist with every aspect of your journey. Someone who also understands your preferences and even your occasional moments of uncertainty. That’s the kind of support I offer.

By reaching out to me for work, you’re inviting a trusted partner into your team—one who listens, adapts to your needs and delivers results. Together, we can create travel experiences that resonate with your audience.
